WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference tabbed Davidson redshirt junior Anthony Torreso as its Under Armour Baseball Player of the Week and Saint Joseph’s senior Cole Fehrman was named Pitcher of the Week. Dayton freshman Colin Lynch captured Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Tuesday and are for games played from March 23-29.
Torreso posted a 1.438 OPS, with three home runs and eight RBI in a 2-2 week. A catcher and designated hitter from Stratford, Conn., he homered in all three games in the Dayton series. He hit .375 (6-for-16) for the week and .462 (6-for-13) while slugging .938. He scored the winning run in Sunday's walk-off 9-8 win after leading off the 12th with a single.
A southpaw from Doylestown, Pa., Fehrman was nearly unhittable on Saturday afternoon, taking a no-hitter into the ninth before allowing a single. He finished his outing with zero runs allowed on one hit while striking out 11 in eight and one-third innings to earn his first victory as a Hawk. The win, a 3-0 victory over Fordham, extended the program record for the Hawks' best-ever start to conference play.
Lynch went 8-for-18 (.444) as the designated hitter and a left fielder for Dayton. A Doylestown, Pa., native slugged .667, recording one home run, six RBI and seven runs scored. He stole one base, and tallied three walks for an on-base percentages of .545.
