High Point Duo, Massachusetts' Granara Earn Under Armour #A10MLAX Weekly Laurels

WASHINGTON -- The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized the High Point duo of sophomore attacker Justin Wixted and junior goalie Zack Overend as its Under Armour Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week. Massachusetts freshman attacker Robbie Granara was chosen as the Rookie  Player of the Week for the second time this season. The awards, announced Monday are for games played between March 24-30, the first week of conference play. 

Wixted his second most assists this season in High Point's win over Hobart, tallying four assists to go with a goal in the first quarter. The Limerick, Pa. native contirbuted to all three goals at the start of the game to give HPU a 3-0 lead.  Overrend had his third straight game with 10+ saves and picked up his fourth win this season in goal, totaling 14 in the contest. The Annapolis, Md, native had a .667 save percentage and only allowed two goals in the first half of the game, holding Hobart to seven goals in the game. Granara posted a hat trick in UMass’ 11-10 win over #16/15 Saint Joseph’s and picked up a ground ball. The Reading, Mass. native helped the Minutemen improve to 8-2 on the season and 1-0 in A-10 play. Now a two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week, Granara extended his goal scoring streak to 10 straight games to start his collegiate career and also has multiple points in all 10 of those contests.
